The editors of The Review invite writers that live in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and beyond, to submit poems for publication.
Update 3/31/25:
The submission period for the special section, Amplifying Disabled Voices, edited by Christopher Heuer, Marlena Chertock, and Gregory Luce, is now closed. To learn more about that special section, read the blog post on the Day Eight website here.
We are not currently accepting submissions through open call.
The open call is currently CLOSED and expected to re-open May, 2025. We received a larger number of submissions through the end of 2024 than expected and the editors need time to work through the backlog of submissions prior to considering additional work.

Submissions must include:

Thanks to support from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, submission to The Review is free for DC residents. All others are to submit using this form, which requires a $3 submission fee.
We invite poets from historically-disincluded demographics, including Black, Indigenous, Native American, and AAPI writers, to submit work using the free, "DC resident" form available here. If you are a non-DC resident using that form, please note the reason for accessing that submission form in your submission or it will not be considered.
